For over 70 years Sunup has conducted sales off the ranch on a private sales basis. For prospective buyers that means we pay special attention to getting you all the information, photos, videos and records you need to inform your purchase. Today, 85 percent of our buyers purchase sight-unseen, from around the country, and the world – that’s what it means to be a trusted breeder. We often joke our horses are worldlier than we are.
Remote purchases began with the internet, when potential buyers could start shopping from home. We would admit, we do miss the in-person visitors who frequented the ranch, from all across the country and world, many becoming close friends. At the same time, we understand the wider reach the ranch now has.
To meet the needs of potential buyers, we insure that they receive full sets of photos, videos and records. In order to sell horses in this manner, it is imperative that our reputation is top notch, and our horses arrive as represented.

What to expect when purchasing from Sunup Ranch

Prices & Minimums
Prices generally start around $4,000 and range up to five figures on weanlings to started two-year-olds. Buyers can feel assured by the longevity of our breeding programs, meaning we know the traits of the ranch’s broodstock through generations, so we have a lot of family history to base pricing on. Of course, there are exceptions, and we can consider adjusting our prices for multiple purchases. For purchases, a minimum of 50 percent down is required.
Horse Health & Transportation
All horses traveling out of state will have a current Coggins and health paper. We collect the AQHA transfer fee and take care of all AQHA paperwork. We can help make transport arrangements, and we have several reliable haulers we work with. We allow 30 days of free board after the point of purchase. Buyers can pay for a pre-purchase exam if desired.
International Buyers
We have shipped horses to to Canada and Mexico, and several countries in Europe and Central America. We are familiar with the requirements to properly prepare a horse to leave the country and work with only reputable equine import/export businesses. We strive to make international purchases work smoothly for everyone.
